First steps

Digital books

A great first step is to start exploring the Ignite English digital books. You can add your own notes to these pages and use the resources button along the bottom to access all of the associated resources for that page. Please note that while teacher access to the digital books  is included with a Lessons, Resources and Assessment subscription, access for students needs to be requested separately. Please get in touch with us if you require this.

Departmental CPD

This bespoke CPD package has been developed for Ignite English by Geoff Barton and comprises films with resources on topics such as Creative and adventurous teaching, Encouraging independent learning and The English KS3 Curriculum. Example: Unit 1

Lessons and resources

Resources tab

Another tip is to click into the Resources tab and familiarise yourself with the different types of resources available using the left hand menu. As well as all of the resources sorted by student book and SPaG support, you will also find resources targeting transition from year 6.

Lessons that are ready to use

To save you some time planning and finding sources and resources, the Ignite team have created lessons for each unit that have all relevant resources attached as well as comprehensive teacher notes. Example: Lesson 1.1

Adding your own resources

You can add to the bank of resources with your own resources which means that you can create lessons and units that are bespoke to you and to your classes.

Assignments

SPaG quizzes

You can assign specific SPaG interactives to individual students, groups of students and to whole classes through the assignment tab. As well as helping to resolve any gaps in student understanding, quizzes that have been assigned are automarked and feed directly into the markbook.
