First steps

Digital books

A great first step is to start exploring the AQA GCSE English digital books. You can add your own notes to these pages and use the resources button along the bottom to access all of the associated resources for that page. Please note that while teacher access to the digital books  is included with a Lessons, Resources and Assessment subscription, access for students needs to be requested separately. Please get in touch with us if you require this.

Departmental CPD

This bespoke CPD package has been developed by Geoff Barton and comprises films with resources that ask questions on issues such as  good student writing, tackling unseen 19th century texts and monitoring progress effectively. Example: Unit 1

Lessons and resources

Resources

Another tip is to click into the Resources tab and familiarise yourself with the different types of resources available using the left hand menu. As well as all of the resources sorted by student books, there is additional SPaG support, and exam preparation resources.

Exam Pulse

Exam Pulse

Based on previous years’ exam insights, Exam Pulse provides up-to-date exam support. This digital content gives top tips, advice for approaching the exams and suggests resources and activities within Kerboodle to develop students’ understanding and improve their responses.

Exam tip videos

Peter Ellison and Peter Buckroyd familiarise students with every question in the English Language and English Literature papers. Each short film explores the skills being tested in the question and offers approaches for how to develop an answer. These are a must-watch for your students!

Set text support

Students can get to grips with their set texts using these comprehensive guides. Each guide is packed with activities focussing on plot, context, character, language and themes and has a sample exam question with exemplar answers.

Assignments

SPaG interactives

You can assign specific SPaG interactives to individual students, groups of students and to whole classes through the assessment tab. As well as helping to resolve any gaps in student understanding, quizzes that have been assigned are automarked and feed directly into the markbook.

Sample exam papers

Sample exam papers are also assignable to students and classes. You will also find exemplar student answers within the resources tab.
